Deck Landings, Walkways and More
Limited back yard access. Sloped ground required extra safety precautions with respect to machinery operation.
Project Details
In this project, the client sought a more visually appealing and functional solution for the landing areas at the base of the two sets of stairs leading to their expansive backyard deck. They also requested an extension of their existing driveway to accommodate a small utility trailer, with this extension connecting to the second set of steps on the garage side of the deck. Additionally, the second landing area on the opposite side of the deck required a walkway or a tidy landing space for accessing their new garden shed situated nearby.
We also brought in additional Armour Stone and decorative fieldstone boulders to stabilize the driveway extension and lawn areas near the shed, addressing potential erosion from elevation differences. Concrete block curbing was installed around the perimeter to raise the lawn grade for easier mowing and improved drainage away from the deck and foundation. To enhance the appearance and reduce weed growth under the deck, we covered the area with two sizes of decorative riverstone, which also reinforced the perimeter curbing. The clients and I were very pleased with the final results, creating a more functional and attractive space.
